Session Times
Are normally Tuesday mornings. When the clocks change we adjust to either 9:30am (summer) or 10am (winter) until 12:30pm. We try and car share or walk/cycle to our venues. The group leader for the day will bring tools and brief folk on the job to hand. There is a refreshments break at 11am. You can stay for all or part of the session and do as much as little as you are capable of. Likewise come once, or hardly miss a week!
There is no commitment, but it is appreciated if you really get involved. Most of all socialise and see a job well done.

Who and what
Join the 6-12 people from all walks of life. Young people under 16 are welcome to most sessions but need to be supervised by an adult – please contact us beforehand to make sure there will be jobs that they can help with. Similarly if you have special needs – you are most welcome but please ask if you need to know more.
We will take your details for first aid and other contact. Bring clothing and footwear suitable for the session, especially own gardening gloves and refreshments eg water, flask of coffee. Some people bring a folding stool. Once regular, you are offered the branded Green Gym clothing! Birthdays are often commemorated with cake or a trip out to a local eatery. At Christmas time we round the year off with a meal and sing-along together.
Typical jobs
Weeding, litter picking, trimming back hedges, planting hedges, surveying butterflies, water sampling, path laying using woodchips, trips out to visit other sites of interest, networking with similar groups at regional seminars etc.
Sometimes we get the chance of training for country crafts or species surveys with BBOWT or TCV.
A lot of business is discussed over tea break or at our AGM. There is a very democratic structure and committee members serve for a maximum of 3 years so no-one gets tied down.
